Spreading Free Smiles Across Ozaukee and Milwaukee County
Friedman Dental Care hosted a free dental care event through Dentistry from the Heart (DFTH) on Saturday, April 21, 2012, supporting Ozaukee and Milwaukee County residents to those who are unable toafford dentistry visits on their own.
The team of dental professionals at Friedman Dental Care included Dr. Friedman, Dr. Dale Rottman, and Oral Surgeon, Dr. Alan Kimmel along with our staff Tammy, Karen and Barb. Also participataing were a number of volunteers who were a tremendous help in registration, sterilization, etc. This year for the first time, we also had the help of the Sanford Brown College studentsand instructors who were invaluable in taking blood pressures and blood tests for blood sugar. We thank everyone who donated their time on a Saturday for this wonderful event.
We saw 33 patients in need of dental treatment and over $7000 in dental procedures were performed that day at no cost to these patients. When we saw their smiling faces and grateful attitudes when each treatment was completed, it made it all worthwhile. The services provided by Dentistry from the Heart not only helps a patients' teeth and overall health, it gives them a renewed reason to smile.
In 2001, Dentistry from the Heart started with dentist Dr. Vincent Monticciolo who wanted to give back to the community by providing aid to the growing number of Americans without dental insurance. Dentistry from the Heart is a registered non-profit organization that services free dental work for people in need. Since its inception, Dentistry from the Heart has grown to include over 200 annual events nationwide and provided more than 60,000 people with an estimated $6 million in free dental care.
